About this plant
Pineapple WF is an indeterminate heirloom tomato prized for its large, golden-yellow fruits with red-orange striping and a sweet, complex flavour reminiscent of tropical fruit. Gardeners grow it for fresh eating and slicing, as it's one of the most flavourful yellow tomato varieties. The WF designation indicates resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt.

How to plant
Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before your last spring frost, planting them about 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix. Transplant seedlings into larger pots when they develop their first true leaves. Harden off seedlings over 7–10 days before moving outdoors after all frost danger has passed. Space plants 24–36 inches apart in full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily). Plant deep, burying the stem up to the lowest leaves to encourage a strong root system.
Growing tips
Water deeply and consistently, providing 1–1.5 inches per week; irregular watering causes blossom-end rot and fruit cracking. Fertilize every 2–3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer or one slightly higher in phosphorus once flowering begins. Stake or cage plants early, as Pineapple WF is indeterminate and can reach 6–8 feet tall. Prune lower leaves as the plant grows to improve air circulation and reduce disease pressure. Watch for early and late blight, spider mites, and hornworms; remove affected foliage promptly and use organic pest management as needed.
Harvesting
Fruits mature in 75–85 days and are best harvested when fully coloured and slightly soft to gentle pressure—they develop their full sweetness and complex flavour when fully ripe on the vine. Pick in the morning when temperatures are cool. Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight; do not refrigerate, as cold temperatures diminish flavour. Ripe fruits keep for 3–5 days; use within a few days for best taste.
